Mary Olive Smith to film WEEMA video

We've teamed up with Emmy award-winning director, producer and cinematographer Mary Olive Smith to share with you our organization’s mission and approach to community-led development! Mary Olive will be traveling in August to Kembata-Tembaro to shoot footage for a video about WEEMA's programs and their impact. This video will tell the story of WEEMA’s work in Ethiopia through intimate interviews with “local champions,” people living in the area and working with WEEMA. By telling individual's stories, we hope to highlight some of WEEMA’s core values: inclusion of women and marginalized individuals, holistic development, and sustainable initiatives through partnership with local government.

This fall, WEEMA will hold a screening of the film in Boston which will include a Q&A with the director. We are very fortunate to be working with Mary and look forward to sharing this project with you. In the landscapes and footage of activities and daily village life, we hope to connect you to the individuals that WEEMA's work supports. We'll send out information on the date and time of the screening when it is available.  Hope to see you there!

PS. If you have not seen "Walk to Beautiful" yet, we HIGHLY recommend you do. And don't forget- it's not too late to sign up to run with WEEMA at the Falmouth Road Race on August 19th. Our top fundraiser wins a roundtrip ticket on Ethiopian airlines! For more information and to donate to a runner or register click here.
