- Nearly half of the population supports itself at the subsistence level, with barely enough money or food.
- Many families cannot afford to send their children to school, pay for medical costs, or build savings in case of emergency.

WOMEN's ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT GROUPS
WEEMA establishes and supports women's Self Help Groups with savings and loans programs as well as trainings in business and financial management.
Vocational training and Social Enterprises
WEEMA supports local, environmentally-friendly industries such as beekeeping and clean cookstove production.
LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND
WEEMA involves the most marginalized individuals from the community- such as poor women, potters (very low social status in this cultural setting) and the disabled.
